this is a 1953 Harley panhead. it has been in my family since 1978. my brother bought it in ohio and brought it home when he went to title it at that time Pennsylvania asked questions on the application for out of state vehicles about modifications. he checked the box on lengthened front end (at that time it was 8″ over) so when the title came back it came back 1953 reconstructed and has been that way ever since! in 2001 I was working at a shop called pro cycle as a mechanic / machinest and my brother had a 1999 night train as well so he gave the pan to his son and I started building it for him. we rebuilt the bottom end with all USA made parts, new crank pin bearings rods and bushings I believe S&S but maybe TRW. we built the top end with all new parts including STD duel plug heads brand new cylinders and pistons and balanced it! the rocker arms and rocker blocks are brand new and are S&S. lifters were S&S as well and are soild with adjustable light weight pushrods. the carb is an S&S shorty e style. we had the bike running and was going to convert it to a trike as my nephew was a dwarf and we just couldn’t get it low enough for him. unfortunately my nephew died in 2002 and we never got to finish it. so it sat in martys barn (yes a real barn!!!) for almost ten years before he would part with it!!! I bought it and replaced all the top end gaskets and since I had to tear the top off and the rings were already seated I went ahead and threw a new set of ten over pistons and new rings in just to be safe because sometimes the rings don’t seat right if you reuse them. I also added a Mallory electronic auto advance distributor and duel accel coils. I put a Riviera diaphragm style clutch and belt drive primary setup and a hydrolic clutch setup the rear fender is a jesse james one ton ho and the front end is a single disc for a 1999 (I am handicapped my self and wanted a better and easier to use system than the drum brake) the frame is Midwest as two years ago a lady hit me. but the bike wasn’t totaled and they kept the original title in tact they paid to repair it! I have the original frame and it will go with the bike if you want it!!there is only about 250mi on the bike as I put it together ran it for a couple hundred miles or so to break in and make sure all was right and tore it down for paint! the paint is Harley light and dark rootbeer and has ghost skulls all through the light rootbeer and is beautiful!!! the pics here don’t do it justice!! the tranny was rebuilt with Andrews gears about two years before marty bought the night train so I didn’t bother with it as it only has around ten or fifteen thousand miles on it and works great! I built this bike with all the best of everything as I wasn’t planning on ever selling it. I wanted to build a show winner and bar hopper but now im having medical issues and cant ride it. it kills me to have to sell but I would rather see someone enjoy it rather than just sit in my garage till I die and who knows what happens to it then!! if you have any questions you can text me at 724-237-7883 that’s my cell and its the fastest way to get hold of me. the paint job has never seen the pavement and was done professionally and was very expensive!! the materials were over 700.00 alone it was a three part candy with pearl and metalflake and four coats of clear on top! the engine cases are soild with( NO stripped or helicoiled holes!) and as I said brand new just starting to break in and really run strong when I tore down for paint!
