This awesome custom motorcycle was just completed July 2015. The machine was built to unveil at the 75th Sturgis Rally. The machine has several very trick components that make it more unique than any other DeRake chopper we have completed.
The chassis is 100% hand built starting with straight mild steel tubing. As you can see in the pictures, the single down tube was created with multiple holes and small visors to achieve a look never seen before. The top engine mount was also something different that had not been done in this fashion. Out back, the fender struts and license plate mount match the engine mount with the same waived arch. As far as the rear fender, it’s carbon fiber and again it’s made in house. The oil tank is also a very unique design. Rods & Rides decided to build two balls completely round and mate them together very slightly at the bottom to still give them the full round look but make them function as one tank. As far as the seat, a mono shock seat pan was built and then sent to our friend Rich Phillips. He stitched up a great looking leather seat using matching purple thread. The wiring on this bike is completely hidden but still sends the power needed to operate the 47’ Chevy taillight and the Bates style headlight.
The drive train in the monster was also not overlooked. The engine of choice is a Ulitma El Bruto Super Competition 131” monster with a R1 Carburetor with a third circuit jet. Mating the 6-speed A.R.T Hydraulic transmission is a 3.35” open belt drive with outer bearing support. This monster power plant will launch this bike like a rocket…
After all the components where ready, the machine was painted Passion Purple and detailed in several powder coated black accents.
The final product turned out to be a true show stopper and winner….
